KOUTÉ VWA
Malrick spends the summer with his grandmother in Cheyenne, where, 11 years earlier, his uncle, the local drummer Lucas, was killed. In this therapeutic hybrid film, brimming with music, Jean-Baptiste makes tangible a community torn apart by violence—the same violence that claimed his cousin's life. Despite this reality, Kouté vwa offers a loving portrayal of French Guinea, a country seldom seen on the big screen.
