Sprouts Film Festival 2026 will kick off with this opening film!
In a near future, global warming has led society to favour night-time over daytime, disrupting human connection. Jonah is hired to help nine-year-old Nika, who is struggling in this environment. Levan Gelbakhiani (And Then We Danced) was awarded at Locarno for his shattering performance as Jonah. Debut filmmaker Zünd employs the night, a warm colour palette, and brutalist architecture to craft her solemn yet starkly human vision of climate adaptation.
