Live AV Show: Another Deep (try-out)

Another Deep immersively explores the impending deep-sea mining in Svalbard (Spitsbergen), along with the ensuing tensions on the island. Beyond industrialization and resource exploitation, climate change also threatens the region. IJzerman and Robert bring to life the ecological, geopolitical, and indigenous implications of mining activities and aim to initiate a nuanced discussion about this largely unseen process.

Mark IJzerman is an interdisciplinary artist who, through field research and creative collaboration, investigates various planetary processes such as biodiversity erosion and water warming, not just from a human perspective.
Sébastien Robert is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher at the intersection of visual and sound art, technology, science, and ethnography. His projects predominantly circle around a research cycle called 'You’re No Bird of Paradise,' with which he explores vanishing indigenous sonic rituals and cosmologies."

Our cultural program, running from May 9-12, aims to deepen the ecological and social dialogue initiated by our festival. Featuring an eco exhibition and a live audiovisual concert, it offers rich material for contemplation and discussion.
