RASPAD

Few man-made disasters grip the imagination quite like Chernobyl. In Raspad - the first narrative feature to depict the event, and a rare USA/USSR co-production - we follow a journalist, a doctor and ordinary citizens confronted with the 1986 nuclear meltdown. Belikov’s unpolished film blends documentary footage, melodrama and an eclectic montage to immerse the viewer in the chaos and vastness of the moment, evoking a striking sense of time and place.
