OPEN CALL

ECO EXPO

Sprouts Film Festival (SFF) invites young artists and recent art school graduates whose work revolves around ecological and sustainability themes to apply with their pre-existing work for the Eco Expo, which will take place during the 5th edition of SFF.

WHAT?

Sprouts Film Festival is an annual interdisciplinary film festival. Sprouts aims to make cinema a site for peaceful protest by screening newly released ecocinema and socially critical debut films. All selected features and shorts are fiction, as we believe that through the power of imagination we can alter our behaviour for the better and rethink our relationship with the more-than-human world.

GLEANING IMAGES

An open call for artists who work with what remains, reshaping archives, objects, or ideas into new ecologies of meaning.

In her 2000 documentary The Gleaners and I, Agnès Varda turned her camera towards those who gather what others leave behind: the leftover potato, the discarded object, the overlooked image. In her hands, gleaning became both a method and a politics - a way of seeing that refuses the logic of extraction and instead finds abundance in the margins, value in what remains, and meaning in what dominant narratives have forgotten.

Dates

Application deadline: 8 April 2026
